MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Vixens of Sweet Briar College scored 11 runs on nine hits Monday to put an end to their winless streak, edging Penn State-Berks 11-8 in day one of play in the Snowbird Tournament in Myrtle Beach.
First-year Anna Newberg (New Britain, Conn./New Britain) knocked two doubles for the Vixens in the win. She was 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI. Senior Brittney Berry (Tappahannock, Va./Essex) was 1-for-4 with a walk and two RBIs.
Sweet Briar faced Arcadia in the morning game of day one. The Vixens suffered a 10-0 loss at the hands of the Knights.
