Sweet Briar swimming moved to 12-2 Wednesday evening, sweeping the team’s last dual meet of the season and setting a new team and pool record along the way. The Vixen wins came by scores of 72-23 and 67-28 over Hollins University and Bridgewater College, respectively. Bridgewater defeated Hollins 62-33 to round out the scores.
Sweet Briar’s new school and pool record came in the last event of the night, the 800 M. freestyle relay. Melissa Simpson ’11 (Madison Heights, Va./Amherst County), Hannah Hesser ’10 (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal), Tori Marshall ’10 (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham), and Stephanie Perks ’11 (Warrenton, Va./Fauquier) touched the wall first with a time of 9:20.54, erasing the previous record set in 1989 by exactly nine seconds.
Simpson, Hesser and Perks were also members of the victorious 400 M. medley relay team (4:54.77), along with Hayley Hill ’10 (Southampton, Bermuda/Bermuda H.S. for Girls).
Individually, Simpson added to the win column in the 50 M. freestyle (29.34) and Perks won the 200 M. individual medley (2:43.04), both of which Sweet Briar finished one-two.

Relay swimmers Hill and Marshall also picked up individual wins, with Hill taking the 200 M. breaststroke (3:00.23) and Marshall winning the 200 M. freestyle (2:22.69).
The 200 M. butterfly was won by Allison Stansberry ‘11 (Nashville, Tenn./Christ Presbyterian) and the 100 M. freestyle went to Jennifer Milby ’08 (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis). Stansberry touched the wall first in the butterfly event with a time of 2:51.17, while Milby won her race with a time of 1:06.75.
