HARRISONBURG – The eighth-seeded Sweet Briar Vixens opened the first round of the 2007 ODAC Field Hockey Championships Saturday at top-seeded Eastern Mennonite University. The home team netted six in the first and three in the second to take the opening-round match 9-1.
Alicia Modzelewski '11
First-year Alicia Modzelewski (Virginia Beach, Va./Bayside) put in the tally for the Vixens. Her unassisted goal came in the 22nd minute and brought Sweet Briar within two goals at 3-1. Senior goalie Cat Cox (Prince Frederick, Md./Calverton), playing in her final hockey game, collected 12 saves to finish the season with 143 stops.
The first-round loss ends the 2007 season for the Vixens with a 2-14 mark overall.
