Vixen volleyball celebrated senior night with a win Thursday evening, downing visiting Salem College 3-1 (30-16, 26-30, 30-23, 30-19) in non-conference volleyball action. The match was won at the net for Sweet Briar as the Vixens knocked down 38 kills and picked up a season-high nine total blocks in the four games.

Cassidy Jones '11
First-year Cassidy Jones (Rustburg, Va./Rustburg) led the way with 11 slams, three solo blocks and four block assists. She also picked up 10 digs on defense. Fellow first-year Lauren Foster (Evington, Va./Rustburg) dished out 22 assists in the match.
On defense, four different Vixens picked up double-digit totals in digs to help Sweet Briar to its second highest dig total for the season. Libero Laura Jett ’11 (Littleton, Colo./ThunderRidge) was the defensive standout with 24 digs.

Natalie Cutchin '08
Senior Natalie Cutchin (Windsor, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) was honored prior to the start of tonight’s game. Natalie, who will graduate in May after just three years at Sweet Briar, is a three-year varsity letter winner for the Vixens and received volleyball’s Pink and Green award last season.
Thursday’s win brought an end to the 2007 season with Sweet Briar sitting at 3-24 overall and 0-10 in the conference.
