FREDERICK, Md. — The Vixens of Sweet Briar College kicked off a two-day road trip to Maryland on Sunday with an afternoon non-conference match up with Hood College. The Vixens came up a goal short in the contest, falling 2-1 to move their overall record to 2-5.

After a Blazer goal on a penalty corner in the first half and a second tally in the 52nd minute, Sweet Briar found itself with a 2-0 deficit and 18 minutes remaining on the clock. Backed against a wall, the Vixen offense responded and netted its first goal of the game two minutes later at the 54-minute mark. The unassisted goal came off the stick of first-year attacker Erika Magee (Petersburg, Va./Prince George), her second of the season. Sweet Briar out shot the Blazers 9-5 in the second half but was unable to put the second goal on the board as the clock ran out.

The team concludes the short trip on Monday by traveling to Baltimore to take on Villa Julie College at 3 p.m.
