Modzelewski Erases Maroon Shutout

First-year Alicia Modzelewski (Virginia Beach, Va./Bayside) erased a Maroon shutout Tuesday scoring the Vixens’ lone goal in a 6-1 home loss to Roanoke College.

Modzelewski’s goal brought the Vixens within two at 3-1 with minutes remaining in the first half. Roanoke had jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with goals in the 14th and 17th minutes.

The Vixen goalies split time in the cage Tuesday. Cat Cox ’08 (Prince Frederick, Md./Calverton) ended with 14 saves, while Laura Wolf ’11 (Yorklyn, Del./Wilmington Friends) turned back six Maroon shots.

Sweet Briar welcomes Shenandoah University to campus on Saturday during the College’s Homecoming Weekend. The game gets underway at 2 p.m.
