The Honors Committee has awarded Honors Scholarships for the 2007-2008 academic year to 23 Sweet Briar students.

The Honors Scholarship recognizes students for excellence in academics and contributions to college and community life. Students are chosen based on written essays, faculty recommendations and academic record, including the breadth and scope of the course of study.

Recipients are selected each spring from the rising sophomore, junior and senior classes. The students selected for this award represent Sweet Briar’s highest achieving, motivated and engaged students.

Class of 2008 recipients are: Natalie Batman, Mary Dance, Laura Gandy, Elizabeth Gold, Rachel Gotwalt, Theron McLeod, Shanna Ryan and Kathryn Whittemore.

Class of 2009 recipients are: Rebecca Cortez, Sarah Hall, Leslie Lewis, Anne Lojek, Emma Meador, Julia Patt and Kirsten Porter-Stransky.

Class of 2010 recipients are: Dorothy Buchli, Courtney Cunningham, Madeline Davis, Eugenia Hannon, Laura Hanold, Amanda McKenzie, Kelly Murphy and Kathleen Thomas.
