Sweet Briar will join with colleges and universities across the state in holding a candlelight vigil at 9 p.m. tonight in front of Memorial Chapel.
Sweet Briar also will observe a moment of silence at noon Friday, April 20 in recognition of Gov. Timothy Kaine’s declaration of a statewide day of mourning.
Also on Friday, Sweet Briar community members are encouraged to wear maroon and orange in support of the Virginia Tech community as part of Hokie Hope. Hokie Hope is an effort led by Tech alumni to declare Friday “Orange and Maroon Effect” Day, a reference to the traditional showing of school spirit by wearing the colors to athletic events.
