A candlelight vigil will be held at 8 p.m. this evening at Sweet Briar College in front of Memorial Chapel. The vigil has been organized by the student government as an expression of sympathy and concern for the victims of the Virginia Tech shootings.
“Bring candles, lighters, flashlights, anything you have. This will be a time to show our support for the students, friends, and families of all those affected by the senseless massacre at Virginia Tech,” Ferrell Lyles, SGA vice president, wrote in an e-mail to her fellow students.
The College has also lowered the flag to half mast and conveyed its sympathies to Virginia Tech president Charles Steger.
