Sweet Briar’s American National Riding Commission team is getting ready for the National Championships on April 21 and 22 at Centenary College in Hackettstown, N.J.
To prepare for the competition, ANRC team coach Shelby French traveled with her riders to Aiken, S.C., for PSJ March Madness II, a
Progressive Show Jumping event.
All of the team members –
Heather McPheeters ’10,
Alison Sims ’09,
Katie Davilli ’09,
Corinne Davies ’07 and team captain
Emily Wiley ’07 – were ribbon winners over the two days of competition, French said.
They competed in the Adult Amateur Hunter Divisions and the Adult Equitation Division. Sims, riding SBC’s Renaissance, won the championship in Adult Equitation, and Wiley brought home the tricolor in the Adult Amateur Hunter Division riding SBC’s Chinook.
While visiting South Carolina, “Girl” Conger Wolcott ’87 took the girls for a riding tour of the famous Hitchcock Woods, which is a 2,000-acre preserve in the center of the town of Aiken.
“It provided a wonderful respite from the busy horse show atmosphere,” French said.
