A total of 12 different Vixens scored Friday to help Sweet Briar lacrosse defeat visiting Hollins University 17-1. The win, the first conference victory of the season for the Vixens, improves Sweet Briar's record to 1-7, while Hollins falls to 0-8.
Sweet Briar put 13 tallies on the board in the second half, beginning with two Ellie Donahue '08 (Richmond, VA/Trinity Episcopal) goals in the first and second minutes of play. Sophomore Meredith Newman (Charlottesville, VA/Tandem)also netted two goals in the half, while senior Julie Sellers (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Academy) led all scorers with three.
The Vixen offense continued to roll in the second half. Meghan Kaminski '09 (Chagrin Falls, OH/Chagrin Falls) scored the first of four second-half goals in the 41st minute, followed by a free-position goal from Melissa Carron '10(Grosse Pointe, MI/Grosse Pointe North) and an unassisted goal from Megan Behrle '09 (Manassas, VA/Stonewall Jackson). Senior Emily Fitzpatrick (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Academy), playing out of the cage for the first time in her collegiate career, scored Sweet Briar's 17th and final goal with just over two minutes to play.

Sellers' three goals was a team-best, while Donahue and Behrle each finished with three assists each.
Junior Pam Cruz scored Hollins lone goal, breaking up the shutout with a goal in the first half.
Sweet Briar continues its home schedule on Wednesday, hosting Washington and Lee at 4:30 p.m.
