Brittney Berry '09

LYNCHBURG — Brittney Berry's '09 (Tappahannock, VA/Essex) three-run home run Thursday sealed the deal for Sweet Briar as the Vixens defeated host Randolph-Macon Woman's College 9-1 in game two of a conference doubleheader. Sweet Briar also took the first game, by a score of 2-1, to even its conference record at 3-3.

Becca Almond '10 (Spout Spring, VA/Appomattox County) struck out 10 WildCats in game one on her way to her sixth win of the season. Meagan Chenault '07 (Amherst, VA/Amherst County) picked up two hits in three at-bats in the game.

Righty Nikki Taylor '10 (Wendell, NC/East Wake) pitched well in game two, benefiting from nine Vixen runs, including eight that crossed the plate in the top half of the sixth inning. Berry was 2-for-4 in the game with her second homerun of the season.

Sweet Briar continues conference play on Saturday at Guilford College.
