Vixen tennis took all nine matches Thursday over Southern Virginia University to improve its season mark to 2-4 overall. The win, the first of the spring for Sweet Briar, came in dominating fashion as all nine matches were won in straight sets.
First-years Virginia Edahl (Charlotte, NC/Providence) and Blair Blincoe (Vienna, VA/Norfolk Academy) took #1 doubles with a convincing 8-0 win. First-year Molly McGonegle (Virginia Beach, VA/Floyd Kellam) and sophomore Shannon Schalestock (Casanova, VA/Highland School) took the # 2 match by an 8-4 score, while the Vixen first-year pair of Leslie Polaski (Amherst, VA/Amherst County) and Michayla Bonds (San Jacinto, CA/San Jacinto) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, Kate Skafidas ’08 (South Berwick, ME/Berwick Academy) came through with a 7-5 win in the second set of her #6 singles match to keep the Vixens’ streak of straight-set wins in the match intact. She took the match 6-3, 7-5.
