ASHLAND – Sweet Briar softball opened its Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) schedule Wednesday on the road at Randolph-Macon College. The Vixens fell by scores of 2-0 and 8-1 in the doubleheader to move their season record to 7-11.
Pitcher Nikki Taylor (Wendell, NC/East Wake) pitched well for Sweet Briar in game one. She surrendered six hits in six innings of work and two earned runs. Beth Anderson ’08 (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) led the Vixens going 2-for-3 at the plate in game one.
In game two, first-year Blair Mullally (Ridgewood,NJ/Ridgewood) brought home Sweet Briar’s lone run with her bat. Senior Meagan Chenault (Amherst, VA/Amherst County) scored the run. She also picked up one hit in three at-bats in the game.
Sweet Briar is back in action on Sunday hosting Virginia Wesleyan College for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
