
Jennifer Milby '08 helps the Vixens pick up two top-five finshes in relays.
RADFORD — Day two of the ODAC/Atlantic States meet once again brought several top-five finishes for Vixen Swimming.
Sweet Briar was particularly strong in the relay events, as the Vixens captured third in the 800 Y. freestyle relay and fourth in the 200 Y. medley relay. Hannah Hesser ’10 (Richmond, VA/Trinity Episcopal), Stephanie Perks ’09 (Warrenton, VA/Falquier), Jennifer Milby ’08 (Mechanicsville, VA/Lee-Davis) and Victoria Goddard ’09 (Richmond, VA/Westminster Academy) finished with a time of 8:32.07 in the 800 Y. freestyle relay. Hesser and Milby team with Kelly Cuddihy ’09 (Williamsburg, VA/Lafayette) and Tori Marshall ’10 (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) to finish the 200 Y. medley relay in 1:59.82.
Hesser, a two-time conference swimmer of the week this season, continued her strong showing at the meet on Saturday, taking second in the 100 Y. butterfly (1:01.40). The 2007 ODAC/Atlantic States is the first appearance at the conference meet for this freshman.
Relay swimmers Cuddihy, Goddard, Marshall and Milby also picked up top-20 finishes in individual races. Goddard touched the wall eighth in the 400 Y. individual medley with a time of 5:07.49, while Cuddihy finished 11th (5:15.00). Cuddihy also picked up 11th in the 100 Y. breaststroke (1:15.55). Marshall and Milby each finished 10th in the 200 Y. freestyle (2:08.33) and 100 Y. backstroke (1:07.43), respectively.
Senior Kelsey Jeffers (Falls Church, VA/Falls Church) finished the day with a 11th — place finish in the 100 Y. butterfly (1:10.44) and a 12th — place finish in the 100 Y. breaststroke (1:16.82). Brittany Carlton ’08 (Warrenton, VA/Highland) rounded out Sweet Briar’s top-20 finishes with a ninth-place showing in the 400 Y. individual medley (5:08.65).
A full slate of events is scheduled for Sunday as the ODAC/Atlantic States meet concludes in Radford.
