RADFORD — Sweet Briar swimming sits third overall and third among conference schools after the first day of swimming at the ODAC/Atlantic States meet at Radford University.
Sweet Briar had seven top-twenty finishes on the day, led by first-year Hannah Hesser’s (Richmond, VA/Trinity Episcopal) third-place finish overall and second-place finish amongst ODAC schools in the 500 Y. freestyle (5:21.06). Teammate Stephanie Perks ’09 (Warrenton, VA/Falquier) finished 10th in the event with a time of 5:38.32.
In relay events, Sweet Briar captured two top-five finishes. Vixens Tori Marshall ’10 (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham), Brittany Carlton ’08 (Warrenton, VA/Highland), Jennifer Milby ’08 (Mechanicsville, VA/Lee-Davis), and Victoria Goddard ’09 (Richmond, VA/Westminster Academy) teamed up for fourth in the 200 Y. freestyle relay (1:49.58), while the team of Milby, Kelly Cuddihy ’09 (Williamsburg, VA/Lafayette), Hesser, and Marshall captured fifth in the 400 Y. medley relay (4:23.91).
The Vixens also placed three swimmers in the 200 Y. individual medley, with Carlton taking eighth (2:27.39), Goddard ninth, and senior Kelsey Jeffers (Falls Church, VA/Falls Church) finishing 14th.
