Vixens Cat Cox ’08 (Prince Frederick, MD/Calverton) and Sarah Goldstein ’09 (Richmond, VA/Trinity Episcopal) earned honorable mention honors Friday as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced its field hockey all-conference teams.
Cox, a defender, made the transition to goalkeeper this season, turning back a conference-best 182 saves. She stopped 75 percent of opponents’ shots in her first season in the cage to finish fifth among ODAC goalies in saves percentage. Her 12.13 saves per game average this season was seventh nationally, while her 27-save performance against Lynchburg College ranked fourth nationally in saves in a game.
Goldstein started all 15 games for the Vixens this season and was a key contributor on both sides of the ball for Sweet Briar. A leader on and off the field, she finished with three goals for six points and one defensive save. Of her three goals, two came in Vixen wins.
