Two Sweet Briar fall athletes earned honorable mention honors Tuesday as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced its women’s soccer and volleyball all-conference teams.
Sophomore defender Bethany Magee (Prince George, Va./Prince George) earned honorable mention honors in soccer. The Vixens’ leading scorer a year ago, Magee made the move to defense in 2006, helping Sweet Briar surrender 20 percent fewer goals this season and finish in the middle of the conference in goals allowed.
Magee’s seven assists led the team as she finished fifth among conference players in assists (7) and fourth in assists per game (.47).
Volleyball’s Meagan Bell ’09 (Madison Heights, Va./Amherst County) earned honorable mention honors after compiling 94 kills and 188 digs on the season. She also notched 26 aces from the serving line, one off the team best. Bell posted this season’s high for individual digs in a match with her 26-dig performance against Guilford and set a 2006 season-best mark of five aces against Shenandoah.
