The Vixens surrendered two first-half goals to Transylvania University Sunday, suffering a 2-0 non-conference loss at home. Transy jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 7th minute and added another tally at 10:36 for the 2-0 cushion at break.
After surrendering the two first-half goals, the Vixen defense stepped up, denying the Pioneers for the remainder of the game. Goalie Cat Cox ’08 (Prince Frederick, MD/Calverton) turned back 13 shots in the second half alone to keep the Vixens within striking distance.
Transylvania out shot Sweet Briar in the game 24 to nine, while penalty corners were closer at 12-10, Pioneers. Meaghan Linker scored both Transylvania goals in the game, assisted on both by Brittany Amos.
Sweet Briar plays host to the University of Mary Washington on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The non-conference contest is the last at home for the Vixens this fall.
