Steve Lake, a Las Vegas resident who has made a hobby of visiting North American colleges and universities, made a stop at Sweet Briar College on Sunday, June 4.
Lake, a 56-year-old casino pit boss who owns a public relations business, has visited about 350 campuses to date. His goal is to visit 500. His exploits have been featured in The Chronicle of Higher Education, Maclean’s Magazine and other publications.
“I had a wonderful time touring the campus,” Lake said, adding that his tour guide, rising sophomore Leslie Lewis, “did a great job.”
He was so enamored, in fact, that he plans to recommend the College to a friend’s daughter. “I’m going to highly recommend that she consider looking at Sweet Briar very seriously,” he said.
In an interview with The Lynchburg News and Advance, Lake said “Sweet Briar really bowled me over. It’s probably in the top five of the most beautiful campuses I’ve have ever seen.”
