An exhibition documenting a Sweet Briar College travel grant from the Center for Global Partnership of the Japan Foundation (CGP) will be on display at Sweet Briar’s Helen Cochran Library through May 31.
The grant was used to visit garden programs, in particular volunteer-involved garden and maintenance-dependent exterior design initiatives in palliative care, hospitals and other health care settings in Japan.
Travelers included Donna Baker Meeks, Sweet Briar’s horticulturist and superintendent of grounds; Lynn Kable, representing the Society for the Arts in Healthcare, and Frances Butler, representing the Hospice of the Hills of CentraHealth.
The objects on display include paintings, postcards, textile products, handmade crafts and calligraphy.
Library hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. After reunion weekend (May 26-28), hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to noon on Fridays.
SBC grounds superintendent Donna Meeks (left) and Lynn Kable, of Society for the Arts in Healthcare, show off one of the exhibit’s display cases.
