AMHERST — Matching its score of 17-under-par, the Milby team successfully defended its title at the second annual Friends of Athletics Golf Tournament, held May 5 at the Poplar Grove Golf Club in Amherst County. Second place went to the Elite Fitness team at 13-under, followed closely by team Hilb Rogal and Hobbs at 12-under.
The captain’s choice tournament, benefiting Sweet Briar College Athletics, once again featured a hole-in-one 2006 Ford Mustang give-away sponsored by Amherst Motors and a beat the “pro” competition.
Jim Kitchin won the longest putt and Pat Coyne took the closest to the pin contest on hole #4. Adam Sperry (men) and Alice Dixon (women) stroked the longest drives on hole #8.
