Spaces are still available for teams and individuals to register for the 2nd annual Friends of Athletics Golf Tournament held Friday, May 5 at the Poplar Grove Golf Club, in Amherst. Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Sweet Briar College athletic program.

This captain’s choice tournament will feature a hole-in-one 2006 Mustang give-away sponsored by Amherst Motors, beat the “pro” competition, a putting contest, golf carts equipped with Global Positioning Systems, and prizes.

Poplar Grove Golf Club, recently listed No. 8 in the category of Best New Upscale Public by Golf Digest, challenges golfers of all levels. The Sam Snead design features 18 holes of bent grass greens, tees and fairways with rolling hills, natural water sources and mountain views.
