Janet Sylvester, poet and assistant professor of English at Sweet Briar College, has been awarded a fellowship by the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA), a retreat for visual artists, writers and composers in Amherst.
Sylvester will join approximately 20 other fellows at the VCCA, which serves more than 300 artist per year. Since its inception in 1971, the non-profit organization has provided more than 3,000 artists the opportunity to pursue their creative passions in a distraction-free environment.
