SWEET BRIAR – Visiting Lynchburg College took both games of the doubleheader Friday by scores of 11-0 and 10-1. The doubleheader was Sweet Briar’s last home game of the season. The Vixens, 3-13 in the conference, wrap up their first season in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) next week at Bridgewater.
Brittney Berry ’09 (Tappahannock, VA/Essex) picked up two of Sweet Briar’s three hits in game one, hitting singles in the first and fifth innings.
Berry was 1-for-2 in game two. She lead off the Vixen half of the first with a walk and came around to score on a two-out double by Meagan Bell ’09 (Amherst, VA/Amherst County). Berry hit a lead-off triple in the third, but was stranded. Bell finished the day 2-for-4 at the plate.
Krystal Ellis ’08 (Rustburg, VA/Rustburg) pitched seven innings for the Vixens in the two games. She went five in game one for the loss, striking out four, and pitched two innings in relief in game two.
The Vixens wrap up the season Monday at Bridgewater at 4 p.m.
