SWEET BRIAR — Lacrosse stopped a two-game skid Friday, defeating visiting Bridgewater College 15-1. The win improves the Vixens’ ODAC record to 2-3 on the season. Bridgewater falls to 0-3.
The Vixens were on offense most of the first half as the team built a 12-0 lead at break. Six different Vixens found the net in the first 30 minutes, led by four goals each from Megan Behrle ’09 (Manassas, VA/Stonewall Jackson) and Sarah Ross Stewart ’08 (Lexington, VA/Virginia Episcopal). Sweet Briar added three more in the second for the win. Ellie Donahue ’08 (Richmond, VA/Trinity Episcopal), Julie Sellers ’06 (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Academy), Stewart, and Meredith Newman ’09 (Charlottesville, VA/Tandem) all picked up at least one assist in the game to help the Vixens set a season high with seven.
Anne Fisher spoiled Sweet Briar’s shutout with six minutes to play on a free-position goal. Goalie Emily Fitzpatrick ’07 (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Academy) had eight saves in goal.
Sweet Briar is home again tomorrow, taking on Ferrum College at 2 p.m.
