Floyd Sanford, professor emeritus of biology at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, will perform his one-man play, “Darwin Remembers,” from 8 to 10 p.m. Saturday, April 1 in Prothro’s Josey Dining Room at Sweet Briar College.
Sanford portrays a 72-year-old Charles Darwin recalling his early years, his historic five-year voyage on the HMS Beagle, his family and prolific scientific career. Darwin’s research culminated in the publication of numerous books, including “The Origin of Species,” in which he explains the factual basis of evolutionary change and the origin of new species by a natural selection process.
The event is open to the public and admission is free. For more information, call (434) 381-6190 or
