The riding faculty continues to promote Sweet Briar in the horse world through their professional commitments. The Sweet Briar riding program brochure is now a presence at horse shows throughout the country as the riding faculty distribute wherever they are asked to judge.
Shelby French was recently elected to the U.S. Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) board of directors and serves as co-chair of the USHJA Affiliates Group, of which the Sweet Briar is a member. Mimi Wroten serves as Sweet Briar delegate to the Affiliates committee.
In January, Wroten was the "Hunter Seat Equitation and Hunter Judging" presenter at the North Carolina State University Horse Judging Short Course in Raleigh, N.C.
French has been invited to present two days of clinics focusing on the American System of Forward Riding for the 2006 Equine Affaire to be held in Columbus, Ohio, on April 7 and 8. She and Scot Evans (a nationally known equestrian clinician) will teach four 90-minute sessions each day, working with local riders and horses to improve their riding skills using the American System of Forward Riding.
Jon Conyers has been invited to be a presenter at the Massachusetts Equine Affaire in the fall. His focus will be intercollegiate riding and its various options and the judge's perspective while judging intercollegiate competitions.
