Fredericksburg, Va. – Sweet Briar College lacrosse opened the 2006 season on the road Tuesday, with a 19-4 loss to non-conference University of Mary Washington.
Last season’s conference rookie of the year, Ellie Donahue ’08 (Richmond, VA/Trinity Episcopal) led the Vixens with two goals. Junior goalie Emily Fitzpatrick (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Academy) stopped 16 shot in the game. Fitzpatrick led all conference goalies last season in shutouts and saves percentage.
The Vixens open conference play Saturday, taking on Virginia Wesleyan College at 1 p.m.
