RADFORD, Va. — Sweet Briar swimming finished the three-day ODAC/Atlantic States Swimming Championships, Sunday, 5th among conference schools and 8th overall with 238 points. Only four points separated the 5th through 8th placed teams.
The Vixens had eight top-ten finishes in the meet, led by the relay team of Jennifer Milby ’08 (Mechanicsville, Va/Lee-Davis), Kelly Cuddihy ’09 (Williamsburg, VA/Lafayette), Sarah Hall ’09 (Chester, VA/Thomas Dale), and Kate Lydin ’09 (Mercer Island, WA/Mercer Island) who finished 5th in the 200 Y. medley relay (2:04.72) and 6th in the 400 Y. medley relay (4:38.19).
Sweet Briar assistant coach Kelly Espy received the Bonnie Kestner Sportsmanship Award, voted by the conference coaches. The 2005-06 season marks the first year for this award, named after long-time Sweet Briar head coach and current assistant coach Bonnie Kestner. ODAC coaches chose to name the award after Kestner earlier in the season, for her years of dedication to the sport.
Sweet Briar compiled a 7-4 record on the season and finished fourth in the conference with a 2-4 mark.
Washington and Lee University won its 13th consecutive ODAC/Atlantic States Swimming Championships.
