“Working on Art,” an exhibition featuring the work of Sweet Briar College independent study studio art students will open with a reception at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, in Benedict Gallery at Sweet Briar. The show will run through March 26.
The exhibited pieces are part of a semester-long project in which students worked under the guidance of a faculty sponsor — in this case assistant professor John Morgan — to produce a significant body of work. Areas of independent study include drawing, ceramics, sculpture, painting, photography and printmaking, although “Working on Art” will be comprised of drawings only.
The exhibit is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be offered at the opening reception.
Gallery hours are 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday through Friday, with extended evening hours until 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
