Elisabeth Muhlenfeld, president of Sweet Briar College, has been named to the board of directors of the Women’s College Coalition, a North America-wide association of women’s colleges and universities. She also has been named chair of the Coalition’s Governance, Membership and Benefits Committee. Muhlenfeld’s term begins in January 2006.
She was one of five directors ratified this fall by the Coalition’s full membership.
About the Coalition
Founded in 1972, and located in Washington, D.C., the Women’s College Coalition is an association representing 58 women’s colleges in the United States and Canada. The Coalition is an advocate for single-sex education for women. Additionally, it collects and disseminates information, and sponsors research in areas relating to the education of women and gender equity in education. Other priority areas include retention and recruitment of women into math, science and engineering, and the development of women’s leadership in society.
