Two Sweet Briar College soccer Vixens were named to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's soccer all-conference team announced Wednesday.

First-year goalkeeper Kristen Johnson (Federal Way, WA/Decatur) and sophomore midfielder Whitney Shaffer (Norfolk, VA/Maury) were both named to the honorable mention team. Johnson turned back three of four penalty shots taken by the opposition. She picked up 10 or more saves in all but one conference game, leading all ODAC goalies with 175 saves this season.

Shaffer played strong in midfield for Sweet Briar, leading the team and conference with nine assists on the season. Her five goals ranked her third on the team in goals scored in 2005.

“This is a great recognition for Whitney, Kristen and our team,” said head coach Paul Shaw. “Any type of honor reflects on the growth of our program. Our future is promising as we have a number of young players who will impact the team in the coming years.”
