SWEET BRIAR, VA – Visiting Transylvania University scored a goal in each half Saturday to defeat Sweet Briar in non-conference action.

Meaghan Linker put the Pioneers on the board in the first, notching a goal at 21:50. Senior Julie Drake (San Jose, CA/Willow Glen) answered, carrying the ball down the field and fighting her way passed the goalie to tie the game at one-all at half. Three minutes into the second, Transylvania pulled ahead for good on an unassisted goal from Maria Taustine. The Vixens were awarded 10 penalty corners to Transylvania's seven, but could not connect.

Senior Jenn Wiley finished with 10 saves in the game. Taylor McGinnis picked up five saves in the cage for Transylvania.

Sweet Briar continues non-conference play tomorrow, taking on Sewanee at 2 p.m.
