STAUNTON, VA -- The Vixens of Sweet Briar College lost in three games to Mary Baldwin College in non-conference action Tuesday evening. Mary Baldwin won by scores of 16-20, 20-30, 24-30.
First-years Shelley Woody (Madison Heights, VA/Amherst) and Natalie Cutchin (Windsor, VA/Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) led the Vixen defense, both picking up double digits in digs. Dori Rucker ’09 (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Academy) had eight kills and only two errors, helping sophomore Jade Bomar (Monroe, VA/Amherst) pick up 20 assists on the night. Meagan Bell ’09 (Madison Heights, VA/Amherst) led Sweet Briar with four service aces.
Sweet Briar has one road match remaining before returning home. They take on Bridgewater College this Saturday at 11 a.m.
