HARRISONBURG, VA – Sweet Briar College fell 3-0 to host Eastern Mennonite on Thursday, but for the first time in several games, the Vixens finished strong.
Of the 12 goals allowed by Sweet Briar in the past three games, all but two have come in the second half. On Thursday, however, the Vixens held EMU to just one goal on 20 shots taken in the half, turning back 11 penalty corners. Senior Jenn Wiley (Williamsburg, VA/Jamestown) picked up 18 saves in the game, 10 of which came in the second 35.
“Tonight’s game was the first time in a long time we have played a better second half than first. That was the team's challenge and they met it,” said coach Jennifer Crispen.
Sweet Briar wraps up its five game road trip on Sunday, traveling to Fredericksburg to take on the University of Mary Washington at 2 p.m.
Overall: 2-8, ODAC 0-5
