HARRISONBURG, VA – The Vixens traveled to Eastern Mennonite Wednesday looking for Sweet Briar's second win, as they took on the Royals. Sweet Briar took game two to force the match to four games, but fell to EMU 14-30, 30-26, 18-30, 21-30.
In game two, first-year Meagan Bell (Madison Heights, VA/Amherst) served five straight points to pull Sweet Briar back into the game at 19-20. After an EMU service error, Brittney Berry ’09 (Tappahannock, VA/Essex) gave the Vixens the 23-20 lead. Sweet Briar held on for the 30-26 win.
Bell, Jade Bomar ’08 (Monroe, VA/Amherst), Natalie Cutchin ’09 (Windsor, VA/Nansemond-Suffolk Academy), and Dori Rucker ’09 (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Academy) each posted double digits in digs for Sweet Briar in the match.
The Vixens remain on the road Friday, traveling to Emory & Henry for a 6:30 p.m. contest.
