ASHLAND, VA – Sweet Briar soccer could not overcome a slow start Wednesday, suffering an 8-0 loss at Randolph-Macon College.
Sweet Briar was sluggish off the whistle, giving up seven goals in the first 28 minutes of the game. With 17 minutes remaining in the half, the Vixen defense awoke to hold Randolph-Macon at seven. The strong defense continued in the second half, allowing the Yellow Jackets only one goal on 15 shots taken.
“As a coaching staff, we were extremely disappointed in how the team competed in the first half, but we have tons of hope after our play in the second,” said coach Paul Shaw about his team’s performance in the game.
Sweet Briar travels to regionally-ranked Virginia Wesleyan on Friday to take on the Marlins at 7 p.m.
