Hockey Defeated in Non-Conference Action
SWEET BRIAR, VA – Sweet Briar College suffered an 8-0 loss to Christopher Newport University, Wednesday, in a non-conference match.

After giving up a quick goal to start the game, Sweet Briar held the Lady Captains scoreless for 20 minutes before Christopher Newport broke the game open with five goals before half. The Lady Captains added two more in the second for the 8-0 win. Haylie Black led Christopher Newport with two goals scored.

With 10 saves against the Christopher Newport and 21 against Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday, senior goalkeeper Jenn Wiley (Williamsburg, VA/Jamestown) now holds the new Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) career saves record with 856 career saves.

Sweet Briar continues its home stand over the weekend as part of the college’s homecoming weekend. The Vixens take alumnae Saturday at 2 p.m. and Wilson College Sunday at 3 p.m.
