SWEET BRIAR, VA – The volleyball Vixens opened conference play, Tuesday, losing 3-0 to the Roanoke College Maroons.
In game 1, sophomore setter Jade Bomar (Monroe, VA/Amherst) scored four straight points to cut Roanoke’s lead in half at 8-16. A few points later, freshman Brittney Berry’s (Tappahannock, VA/Essex) back-to-back service aces brought Sweet Briar within 6. Sweet Briar, however, could not break the serving of Meredith Withers and Torri Bridge who served 21 of Roanoke’s 30 points.
