SWEET BRIAR, VA – Eastern Mennonite spoiled Sweet Briar’s home opener, Tuesday, defeating the Vixens 6-0. The loss is Sweet Briar’s first in the conference and drops their overall record to 2-3.
The Vixen defense was put to the test early, as Katie Lamm (Newmanstown, PA/ East Lebanon Co.) found the net twice for the Royals. Sweet Briar stayed on defense most of the half, giving up a third goal in the 13th minute to go into the break down 3-0.
Sweet Briar regrouped at break and gave up half as many shots in the second. Freshman keeper Kristen Johnson (Federal Way, WA/Decatur)came up with some big saves in goal, finishing the game with 13.
The Vixens continue conference play this weekend. They face Randolph-Macon Woman’s College Saturday at 1 p.m.
