ROANOKE, VA – The Vixens of Sweet Briar College lost their first two matches, Friday, in the Roanoke Maroon Volleyball Classic at Roanoke College.
In game one versus North Carolina Wesleyan, the Bishops defeated Sweet Briar 16-30, 15-30, 17-30. First-year Dori Rucker (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Academy) led the defense with nine digs. Game two pitted the Vixens against Methodist College, with the Monarchs defeating Sweet Briar in three (18-30, 10-30, 11-30). Meagan Bell ’09 (Madison Heights, VA/Amherst) and Rebecca Martin ‘09(Charleston, WV/Capital City) each had three kills.
The Vixens continue play in the classic Saturday, taking on Randolph-Macon Woman’s College and Ferrum College.
