Seniors Connect to Open Field Hockey Season with a Win
STAUNTON, Va. – Sweet Briar field hockey opened the 2005 season on the road Thursday, defeating non-conference Mary Baldwin College 1-0.

Senior Julie Drake (San Jose, CA/Willow Glen) scored the lone goal for the Vixens off an open field pass from senior Paula Kirkland (Glen Allen, VA/St. Gertrudes)21 minutes into the game.

Goalkeeper Jenn Wiley ’06 (Williamsburg, Va/Jamestown) picked up her first shutout of the season, stopping eight shots in the cage.

Sweet Briar hits the road again this weekend, opening conference play at Randolph-Macon College on Saturday.
