
The 2006 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges” has ranked Sweet Briar College 71st out of 100 top liberal arts colleges. The ranking positions Sweet Briar at the top of Virginia’s distinguished women’s colleges, and as the third most highly ranked liberal arts college in the state.
Colleges are scored on a variety of criteria such as the average freshman retention rate, the annual graduation rate, and the college’s acceptance rate. Sweet Briar’s closest sister colleges, Randolph-Macon Woman’s College and Hollins University, ranked 84th and 88th respectively.
