Three Sweet Briar lacrosse players were named to the 2005 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) College Division All-State women’s lacrosse team, announced Wednesday.
Sophomore goalkeeper Emily Fitzpatrick (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Academy) received second-team honors after making 166 saves for the Vixens this season. A first-team all-ODAC selection, she picked up double-digit saves in 10 of 16 games in goal.
Fitzpatrick was joined on the second team by first-year attacker Bethany Bressan (Charlottesville, VA/St. Anne’s Belfield) and first-year midfielder Ellie Donahue (Richmond, VA/Trinity Episcopal). Bressan led the Vixens in goals and points, helping Sweet Briar finish second in the conference in points per game.
Donahue, named ODAC Rookie of the Year, scored in every game for Sweet Briar, including nine goals in the team’s two post-season games. Her 48 goals were second on the team.
