Two Sweet Briar College lacrosse players were named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association/US Lacrosse (IWLCA/US) Division III All-South Atlantic Regional Team, on Thursday. First-year attacker Bethany Bressan (Charlottesville, VA/St. Anne’s Belfield) and sophomore goalkeeper Emily Fitzpatrick (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Academy) both received second-team honors.
Bressan was the offensive leader in several categories for the Vixens, including goals scored with 49. Her 5.29 points per game this season ranks 12th nationally in Division III. Bressan was in the conference top-three in goals, assists per game and points, receiving second-team ODAC All-Conference honors.
Named to the ODAC All-Tournament Team and First-Team All-Conference, Fitzpatrick led all conference goalkeepers in shutouts and saves percentage this season. She ranks 6th nationally in Division III with a .591 saves percentage, stopping 166 shots. Fitzpatrick has compiled 307 saves in her two years at Sweet Briar.
IWLCA/US named 32 athletes in each of the five regions to the All-Regional teams. All honored athletes are eligible for All-American honors, announced May 22.
