Tennis wrapped up the ODAC Tennis Championship, Sunday, with a sixth-place finish. Sweet Briar won a total of 22 matches in the three-day tournament to compile 25 points. The Generals of Washington and Lee won the tournament for the third consecutive year.
In singles action, seniors Sue Knouse (Washington,DC/Fort Worth CDS) and Julia Geyer (Dallas, TX/Highland Park) both placed. Knouse took third-place in No. 5 singles, defeating Sarah Sullivan of Hollins. Geyer won the fifth-place match in No. 6 singles flight, defeating Hieu Stuart of Hollins 8-3. In No. 4 flight singles, Laura Denson (Houston, TX/Episcopal) fell in the fifth-place match.
The Vixens also took fifth in No. 3 doubles flight, with Knouse and first-year Caroline Byrd (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Academy) fighting back from a quarterfinals loss to defeat Kathryn Andrews and Erica Saey of Lynchburg 9-7.
