Lee Morrison, professor emeritus at James Madison University, will speak on "Title IX: Winds of Change" in honor of National Girls and Women In Sport Day on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 8 p.m. in Tyson Auditorium.
Morrison was president of the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women during its struggle in the 1980s with the National Collegiate Athletic Association over governorship of women's intercollegiate athletics. She will discuss the law itself, its role in the development of sports for women, how it is affected by changes in political administration, and the responsibilities women have for its stewardship in the future.
The Student Athlete Advisory Committee will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items. For each donation, attendees will receive one entry in a drawing for a DVD player.
The lecture is sponsored by the SBC Lectures and Events and the Department of Physical Education & Athletics.
