Sweet Briar College faculty, staff, and retirees have received the Shining Star Award for the 2004 United Way Campaign. This award recognizes organizations that complete a campaign with a strong educational component, have a minimum of 30 percent participation, and a per capita gift level of at least $50.
Sharon Walters, United Way campaign director, is impressed with what these organizations have accomplished. "These are challenging criteria to reach," she said. "By achieving these levels of achievement, your organization's employees truly demonstrated its leadership in the community. We appreciate their willingness to learn more about the United Way and their commitment to giving back to the community to help others."
The award is on display in the Office of the President on the second floor of Fletcher Hall.
