Sweet Briar College music faculty and their guests will present "A Recital of American Music" on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the SBC Memorial Chapel. The recital is free and open to the public.
The concert features the premiere of SBC Dean Jonathan Green's "Koshka Suite" for two pianos, eight hands. The "hands" belong to Rebecca McNutt, SBC professor of music; and guests Rachel Davy, Charity Wegert, and Julia Sansone.
The program will also include Charles Griffes' "Poem" performed by Frank Coffey, adjunct instructor of music, and Nick Ross, assistant professor of music; a movement from Amy Beach's "Piano trio, op. 150" featuring Rudy Hazucha, Ross, and Peter Worford, adjunct professor of music; John Powell's "At the Fair Suite," and Gershwin's "Preludes" played by Ross; as well as songs by Ned Rorem, Chris DeBlasio, and Richard Hundley performed by Allen Huszti, professor of music, and Nick Ross.
